REPORTS TO: Superintendent
POSITION PURPOSE: To provide leadership for the districtâs Pre-K-12 Instructional Services and to provide flexible support at the school building level to accommodate current and changing needs. The Director of Instructional Services is the catalyst for continuous quality improvement in addressing student service needs for the district schools. The director will adapt the services provided through the student services department to meet the needs of students in each school, according to targeted areas for school improvement. The director will lead student service initiatives to address continuous improvement in sub-group performance. The director will support student hearings and address needs focused on the social determinants of health and equity in education.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires:
- Doctorate degree in education
- Five years successful principal experience
- Administrative certification
- District level certification
- Counseling experience or related credentials
- Successful experience leading a district-wide school improvement process
- Administrative experience at elementary and secondary levels
- State level experience addressing mental health or social services

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as liaison to state officials for mental health, foster care, and related services.
- Serve as the liaison to assist in the placement of students in the alternative education program.
- Serve as district hearing officer.
- Assist in training staff in the district alternative education program.
- Provide assistance with supervision and support of schools.
- Support supervision of counselors.
- Provide support to elementary counselors.
- Provide opportunities for counselors to collaborate and receive information on current issues relevant to their work.
- Collaborate with the Special Education Department to develop a common understanding and common goals to support all district students.
- Maintain current knowledge about English Language Learners and keep designated personnel up-to-date on current guidelines.
- Provide school improvement and legislative updates.
- Provide professional learning.
- Provide mentoring and professional learning to certified and classified staff.
- Provide professional learning to support instructional needs.
- Provide professional learning in regard to technical and/or analytical use of data.
- Provide leadership related to mental health, technical, and instructional services.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months; district administrative salary
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of administrators.
