- Position Description
WEConnect International has been growing steadily and is now seeking to dramatically accelerate growth. The Training Manager is responsible for capacity building programs, from curriculum development to delivery, while working closely with donors. The position is responsible for customized online and blended learning, face to face and online courses for Women Owned Businesses.
The candidate should have a strong background in business skills training and/or program operations and curriculum development, management of staff and contractors, customer service, budgets, policies and procedures, and compliance. The candidate must also be a leader who can develop a strategy to continue the growth of the women-owned business training program globally.
The position also requires that the individual interact with different stakeholders including corporate members, international market leads, diverse suppliers, and women-owned businesses from around the world. Therefore, the individual should have strong communication skills and be able to adjust to the different requirements and cultural conditions of the diverse operating environments.
The Training Manager is responsible for providing strategic direction, overseeing the day to day operations and communications related to training; ensuring compliance with global standards and procedures that enable women-owned businesses to connect to larger markets; assisting HQ team members, market leads, Country Directors, Assessors, and women-owned businesses with any queries or challenges that they may have as it relates to data that we collect as part of the program; and manage the curriculum development and implementation of the WEConnect Academy.

- Responsibilities
Strategic development of WEConnect’s training services and Global Programs
- Establish a vision for the current and future development of the training and capacity building portfolio through proactive and innovative approaches
- Support the development of regional trainings by working closely with the global teams and staff to develop strategic relationships with relevant training service providers/other stakeholders and to identify and deliver innovative training services
- Stay abreast of trends and good practices in training, e-learning, personal and professional development Identify and support the development of new training course subjects or services
Overall management of donor funded training program
- Manage specific tailor made training jobs as requested by clients, ranging from short-term training workshops to longer-term training, facilitation and consultancy
- Provide instructional design support to capacity building initiatives
- Manage and collaborate with staff and trainers for efficient and high quality delivery to budget and high standards, including negotiation of terms of reference and contracts, needs assessment, and quality assurance
- Manage trainers’ involvement with in the training programs, including identification and selection of trainers and support in course design and delivery
- Overall management of the quality assurance of the trainings, including design of the training, observations with feedback, analysis of participant’s feedback and sharing of learning, innovation and good practices
Marketing and fundraising activities
- Working with the VP of Communications, develop and implement a marketing plan for the training portfolio
- In collaboration with the Business Development team, explore opportunities and support development of proposals to secure funding for training services
Internal management
- Compile and provide data, oral and written reports for management purposes, weekly status reports and other stakeholders
- Develop, monitor, and report on annual and project budgets in the field of training in collaboration with finance team and approve related expenditure
Adhere to internal information and management systems and policies (e.g. timesheets, financial reporting)
Other

- Qualifications
Education
Masters level qualification in a relevant discipline including but not limited to international development, training or education, e-learning, cross cultural learning and management.
Experience and Skills
- Experience in the design, development and management of a range of online learning experiences, such as facilitated online courses, self-paced e-learning modules, webinars, etc.
- Experience of strategically developing a portfolio of work, including developing projects and proposals and securing funding for these in the field of training and individual capacity building
- Experience in managing projects, budgets and multi-stakeholder work processes, including the use of project management and financial analysis tools
- Prior experience working in consultancy would be an advantage
- Understanding of international development and global program implementation
- Experience and empathy to work with women-owned businesses
- Patience and strong communication skills to be able to address concerns and questions of various stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of and comfort with technology and its capabilities as they relate to program and business process improvements
- Ability to set and meet targets independently and to manage and deliver projects to timelines set by the executive team
- A ‘self-starter’ with entrepreneurial skills, enthusiasm and vision, and a willingness to think big and encourage the team to develop new approaches to overcome challenges
- Fluency in English required and knowledge of other languages and work experience in other countries and cultures preferred
