As a Branch Manager at M&F Bank, you will experience the perfect blend of handling a client’s banking needs from sales to service. You will get to help clients with financial transactions as well as establishing new banking relationships. Maintain ongoing responsibility for branch growth and profitability goals by effectively designing, implementing, and leading the branch action plans. This position carries diversified responsibilities in the administration of all banking offices and functions within the assigned city. Is responsible and accountable for branch operations, satisfactory audits, staffing, supervision, performance management, training, security, problem-resolution, communication generating branch business, and managing the branch’s sales and service activities while meeting established goals.

Qualifications & Essential Functions

Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business or a related field is required. Proven success in business development/sales and prior bank supervisory experience is required. An extensive understanding of the daily branch operations and exceptional customer service skills are essential. Previous personal banking, head teller experience, and knowledge of consumer lending is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of five years of banking experience in sales, customer service, and consumer and/or commercial lending is required. Previous branch management experience and three or more years of prior supervisory experience is preferred.

Skills: Self-motivated, with a good knowledge of consumer lending, experience in motivating, developing and coaching a successful sales team, strong interpersonal, leadership and supervisory skills, strong oral/written communication, ability to collect sales and performance data and implement information for reporting purpose, ability to oversee all responsibilities of a branch, including hiring, development, training and motivating staff, has conflict resolution skills and performance management skills, strong operational skills, ability to maintain a high level of service expectations in the branches, and maintains a professional image. Must be SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act compliant within 30 days of employment in this role, including new or transfer of registration and applicable NMLS background check. Bilingual language skills (English and Spanish) is preferred.

Physical Demands/Work Environment: Vision, hearing, speech and dexterity are essential. A driver’s license is required.

Mental Requirements: Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for performing tasks, meeting deadlines and tolerating frequent disruptions. Must have the ability to work under stressful conditions utilizing learning, thinking and concentration skills. The ability to interact with others and exercise self-control is essential.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Meets or exceeds branch goals for deposit volume, new accounts and referrals as assigned by bank leadership. Assigns overall branch goals to branch team members each month.
  • Cultivates business relationships with new customers; deepens relationships with existing customers by recommending additional products and services.
  • Continually strive to create profitable business through pro-active cross selling and relationship enhancement.
  • Utilizes leadership and management sales skills to promote sales culture and accountability by setting a high standard of sales and service. Effectively and consistently coaches and trains individual team members.
  • Coordinates the branch systems to ensure maximum efficiency and utility. Manages the Bank’s operational, human resources, data processing, financial functions, teller outages, and ATM cash balancing.
  • Assures operating systems are established to provide efficient customer service assistance at minimum expense.
  • Oversees the internal audit function and acts as liaison with regulatory authorities, the outside accounting/auditing firm and the Board of Director’s audit committee.
  • Communicates with management and the Board of Directors concerning regulatory changes that affect the Bank’s operations. Makes appropriate recommendations as needed.
  • Stays abreast of tax laws and pertinent regulations. Acts as liaison with tax accountants and regulatory agencies.
  • Manages the Bank’s operations, human resources, data processing and financial departments. Has responsibility for staffing, motivation and performance management.
  • Participates in community and professional banking activities to position the Bank as a community and financial services leader.
  • Promotes an environment conducive to high morale and dedication of the staff to both the Bank and its customers.
  • Maintains knowledge of the Bank’s non-operational systems to determine functionality of systems, validity of data, appropriate uses and restrictions.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adheres specifically to all corporate policies and procedures. Also adheres to Federal and State regulations and laws including the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Maintains knowledge of the Bank’s services to take advantage of opportunities for selling and cross-selling of products and services.
  • Maintains an accurate and valid information base regarding industry practices and trends.
  • Performs other duties as required.
