Under general direction, the district-wide administrative position provides leadership and direction for Workforce Education and Innovation initiatives and programs. Works closely with the Senior Vice President for Workforce Education and Innovation in developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating projects related to curriculum and degree innovation and alignment, economic development initiatives, and other strategic workforce initiatives. Works with academic affairs, pathway deans and faculty, corporate partners, internal departments and community agencies to integrate “new economy” workforce relevant skills, i.e. value creation competencies, soft skills, and baseline technical skills across programs. Provides leadership and support to Broward UP in view of improving county economic and social mobility rates. Serves as Workforce Education liaison across college departments and for external constituents.

Minimum Education:

  • Master’s Degree required.

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Ten years of general business experience, including eight years in management and five years in an educational environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Daily – 15%: Provides leadership and direction in the development and implementation of Workforce Education programs and initiatives. Works to integrate “new economy” workforce relevant skills, i.e. value creation competencies, soft skills, and baseline tech language across programs.
  • Other – 10%: Leads BCEx movement and guides the professional development, marketing and storytelling, curricular and co-curricular teams.
  • Other – 10%: Works collaboratively with pathway and academic deans, the vice provost for academic affairs, and external industry executives to create innovative skills/entrepreneurial interventions for students and faculty.
  • Other – 10%: Supports and assists in the development and implementation of a storytelling/digital moments strategy.
  • Other – 10%: Facilitates the development of badging and micro credentials in partnership with CTEL, IP&E and Outcomes and Assessment.
  • Other – 5%: Leads Corporate Program Support soliciting employer funding and support for new programs and program enhancement
  • Other – 5%: Assesses market viability and relevancy of existing programs.
  • Other – 5%: Champions and supports the development of new Workforce AS/BS degrees.
  • Other – 5%: Responsible for managing CORE Grant and provides Broward UP! Commission support
  • Other – 5%: Responsible for people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff, and staff development.
  • Other – 5%: Acts as Workforce Education & Innovation liaison between Academic Affairs, the Office of the Provost, and the Office of Advancement in view of optimal integration and alignment of economic and workforce development opportunities, partnerships, and programs.
  • Other – 5%: Provides vision and leadership for industry partnerships, grants and contracts as well as innovation and economic development activities.
  • Other – 5%: Enhances the visibility and effectiveness of CTE programs at the College to support workforce and economic development locally and state-wide.
  • Other – 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.
