Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management will direct the Undergraduate Admissions Office. This person will also assist the Vice President with overseeing Financial Aid and the Registrar’s Office in support of the educational and co-curricular needs of the students at Bowie State University. The Assistant Vice President for Enrollment will support the Vice President in developing and executing well-planned strategies and tactics to shape the institution’s enrollment goals. This will be accomplished by promoting the University in regional, state, national, and international markets; recruiting and admitting new students; enrolling, registering, providing aid, and retaining students; and providing efficient and service oriented processes to guide students through the enrollment pathway from recruitment to commencement. Specifically, the individual selected for the position will assist in:
- Leading all management functions in the Undergraduate Admissions Office, including recruitment and operations.
- Developing, implementing, and administering policies and procedures necessary to support the recruitment and admissions processes.
- Establishing, implementing, and monitoring program evaluation systems for all programs and services within the area of responsibility.
- Analyzing, evaluating, and reporting on strategic and targeted recruitment needs and objectives, which include directing the analysis of all recruitment activities, statistics, measures, and outcomes.
- Ensuring recruitment goals, objectives, budgets, polices, practices, and actions produce successful student recruitment results, consistent with the university’s overall mission and strategic enrollment and retention goals.
- Assisting in development of communication strategies for a variety of market segments that address prospective students, program and enrollment inquiries, application processes, and pre-enrollment phases of the admissions process.
- Selecting, training, and evaluating administrative staff; establish and monitor employee performance objectives; conduct employee performance reviews.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree required.
Experience
Minimum five (5) years of experience as a director within admissions or higher education enrollment management areas required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Thorough understanding of enrollment management models and processes.
- Database management, statistical data interpretation, and application of state-of-the-art information technology as applied to recruitment programs; demonstrated proficiency using advanced office software applications.
- Ability to use data and statistics to create predictive models of enrollment trends and results.
- A proven track record of experience in leading a diverse enrollment management staff.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse student populations, faculty, and staff.
- Knowledge of and commitment to shared governance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including effective public speaking skills.
Conditions of Employment
Travel, evening, and weekend hours may be required.
