We are hiring a Vice President, Workforce Planning and Analytics. This role may be based in Irving, TX or Alpharetta, GA.

McKesson Workforce Planning & Analytics (WP&A) transforms workforce data into actionable insights, giving business leaders and individual employees usable information to: inform business decisions, increase productivity, and improve their experience at work.

This senior HR leader is responsible for delivering actionable data-driven insights that drive better people and business outcomes across McKesson. As the leader of McKesson’s WP&A team, the Vice President establishes the vision and objectives for the team, develops the strategic plan and budget, establishes the connections, and provides the coaching and development necessary for the team to be successful.

As the chief subject-matter expert for Workforce Analytics, the Vice President of WP&A consults with the HR Leadership team, HR function and stakeholders across the enterprise on best practices for leveraging data & analytics in people and business decisions. This key influencer will work in a cross-functional environment to tell the story from complex data, interpreting insights and providing actionable recommendations.

Through strong partnerships with the business, Finance, and HR, they will lead the development and implementation of strategic workforce plans that identify critical workforce risks and ensure the right workforce is in place to achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a trusted advisor to HR and the business, establish cross-functional partnerships, assess business needs, provide critical interpretation of data, form hypotheses and clearly synthesize conclusions into recommendations, turning data analysis into insights-driven initiatives.
  • Establish strategic plan and maintain mission, vision, objectives and measurable goals for McKesson Workforce Planning & Analytics (WP&A) team.
  • Lead and motivate a geographically dispersed team of HR, Analytics and Business professionals. Develop and coach a team of in-house Analysts. Identify critical knowledge and skills required to meet objectives.
  • Establish and maintain a sound data infrastructure for current and future analytics while also supporting security and data privacy requirements. Identify, understand and manage interdependencies across McKesson’s technology, applications and processes.
  • Translate business strategy into workforce strategy, identify and forecast critical workforce risks, and partner to build workforce plans to mitigate those risks.
  • Oversee vendors, to include support, contracts, SLAs, cost management and ongoing evaluation and success measurement related to Workforce Planning and Workforce Analytics.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage workforce data to deliver better people and business outcomes.
  • Rigorously scope and triage projects to ensure high-value and purposeful work. Support the development of a Data Mindset across HR.

Typical Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 15+ years of professional experience and 10+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).

Critical Skills

  • 15+ years of experience in related field (e.g. workforce analytics, business process analysis, policy/program design, continuous improvement in human resources and/or operational environments)
  • 10+ years of people management experience
  • 5+ years in a previous role that required building strong cross-functional relationships and ability to influence senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving/analytical skills; experience with storytelling with data
  • Proven track record of setting aggressive goals and managing complex cross functional projects
  • Strong customer orientation and business acumen with a belief in using data to drive decisions

Additional Knowledge and Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of Workday, Vizier and Tableau
  • Demonstrates confidence, superior presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with all departments and employees
  • Strong organizational skills and highly flexible; demonstrates the ability to change directions quickly, re-set priorities and re-focus without losing sight of long and short-term initiatives
  • Advanced degree (MA/MS, MBA, PhD) in Human Resources, Business, Economics, Data & Analytics, Psychology or Engineering
  • Supports a culture of open & candid feedback, enterprise first thinking, and “debate, decide, commit” decision making
