The Vice President of Logistics is responsible for the overall management and performance of assigned facilities (warehouses) as well as managing all of the Transportation activities. Ensures effective and efficient support of the Supply Chain goals, objectives and KPI’s.

Responsible for increasing inventory accuracy and control for all products, ensuring SKU-Lot integrity is not compromised. Assist in overall Logistics planning, budgeting, financial and human resource decisions to enable organization to reach goals.

Position will recommend and implement efficient and cost effective network analysis to ensure optimal warehouse and vendor/carrier contracts, pricing, performance, planning, and consult the company’s distribution services to meet customer requirements at the lowest landed cost. In addition, the VP is accountable for achieving lean implementation, company objectives, productivity standards and cost control goals.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and direct all transportation and assigned warehouses assets and activities to ensure the safe, secure, lean, efficient and lowest landed cost-effective operations.
  • Develop and maintain a productive work environment by creating and implementing Lean culture and initiatives for, training, implementation and professional development, ensuring that processes are in place for the efficient operation and utilization of all equipment.
  • Ensure current and accurate inventory control for all products. Ensure company’s cycle count program is followed and all instances resolved
  • Evaluate warehouse and transportation performance. Recommend and implement any appropriate changes to achieve safe, efficient and lowest landed cost-effective operation.
  • Develop a space utilization plan to meet prescribed cost and service standards. Monitor the space layout plan to ensure it continues to meet company standards.
  • Direct the management of third party network of warehouse and transportation providers ensuring achievement of performance targets, compliance with company policies, and competitive costs. Identify, evaluate, and integrate new value added providers into logistics network.
  • Direct the management of network of transportation fleet, ensuring optimal achievement of performance targets, compliance with company policies, customer service requirements at the lowest landed costs. Implement fleet utilization optimization with back/line haul opportunities in and outside of Preferred.
  • Lead the development and implementation of technology to improve visibility, service and cost (e.g., routing optimization software, WCS, TMS, etc.) Create the necessary processes to ensure data integrity in the company’s information systems.
  • Develop and maintain strong strategic relationships with key external partners.
  • Identify and analyze both internal and external warehouse and transportation costs, equipment availability and service levels, making recommendations and instituting corrective action.
  • Ensures the warehouses and internal fleet is in compliance with Federal, state and local regulations.
  • Deliver budgeted financial results
  • Plan long-range labor needs based on sales forecasts and input from senior management.


Qualifications:

  • A comprehensive knowledge of warehouse and transportation management operations is necessary. A working knowledge of warehouse and transportation management systems is a plus.
  • A broad range of management skills is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
  • Must be able to give and receive innovative, creative and helpful feedback for team growth and productivity. Must be able to interface and communicate effectively within the organization, with business units throughout the company, and with partners across the supply chain.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Must be PC literate and have a working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to transform current business model to a best-in-class operation; demonstrated experience in creating/upgrading a supply chain function.
  • Strong analytical skills required to succeed.
  • Ability to scale an operation, without sacrificing efficiency and reliability, during periods of rapid growth.


Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant technical or business field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ or more years of Logistics, Materials, Distribution, Supply Chain experience
