Oakwood Village is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to join our executive leadership team. The VP of Human Resources is directly responsible for the strategic planning, policy development and overall administration of the HR department functions that provide services and programs for all associates of Oakwood Lutheran Homes Association, Inc. and all related entities. These functions include: Compensation & Benefits; Employee & Labor Relations; Employment Services; Staff & Leadership Training; Organizational Development; Performance Management; Recognition & Retention; and Regulatory Compliance relating to the Human Resources function.

This position is accountable to the President and CEO.

2. Promote the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Oakwood by exhibiting professional and ethical work practices.

3. Regulatory compliance: monitor compliance with all applicable federal and state local, laws, regulations and requirements governing employment.

4. Wages and benefits: review, evaluate and design wage and benefit packages for all employees.

5. Personnel records, reports & systems: supervise maintenance of records, production of reports and maintenance of the HR/Payroll system.

6. Policies and procedures: develop and implement all policies and procedures related to employment, monitor and review their effectiveness, interpret personnel policies and procedures to employees.

7. Employee relations: function as a resource and advocate for employee concerns.

8. Employee communications: design and direct an effective employee communications program.

9. Management: oversees the Human Resource department. Develop & align HR budget with organizational strategic goals; monitor to ensure the best possible financial and operational outcomes.

10. As applicable; Represents Oakwood at Union Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations, and oversees human resource staff addressing grievance and arbitration proceedings, and Labor Management meetings.

11. Provide counsel and make recommendations to organizational structure and development plans (i.e. succession plans; talent retention/coaching, etc.) to ensure continuous high performance mission-driven leadership.

12. Participate in all HR-related aspects including the workforce planning and design for new or acquired facilities.

13. Ensure best practices are utilized in organizational development programs and process for individuals, department and the organization.

14. Member of the Administrative Committee to the 403B Plan of the Employees of Oakwood Lutheran Homes Association, Inc.

15. Is aware of Oakwood’s compliance policies including those having to do with confidentiality and security of information, and concern for the wellbeing of residents and patients. Demonstrates behaviors and completes work in a manner consistent with these policies.

16. Additional responsibilities as assigned by the President/CEO.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING

1. Ten or more years of diverse experience in Human Resource related administrative areas of responsibility preferably in Health Care, Sr. Health Care. Five + years at “executive management level” of Human Resources Department preferred, in a multi-site organization. Experience in a healthcare and/or union environment preferred with 500 employees.

2. Degree in Business, (HR Major or Minor), Organizational Psychology or Organizational Development from an Accredited College required; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred; and ten plus years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
