VFX General Manager / Head of Production

Crafty Apes VFX New York is looking for a driven and dynamic General Manager/ Head of Production

Primary Responsibilities:

• The Management of Producers and Production Coordinators
• Assessing local production needs
• Allocating relevant VFX Producers and production teams to each project
• Key point of contact for issues arising in New York productions
• Escalating issues and recommendations to senior management team as needed
• Responsible for monitoring production tools and workflows, especially as they pertain to multi-site working
• To maintain an overview of all VFX producers’ schedules, ensuring projects are completed to highest standard achievable, on time and within budget
• Meet regularly with VFX Producers to monitor project budgets (local and combined) and ensure that they are working within given targets
• To oversee liaison with clients in areas of responsibility and budgetary importance as needed
• Engage in New York production team mentoring, support and training as needed
• Responsible to set approved budgets at start of projects, monitoring project costs in line with production progress and overall budgetary targets
• Meet regularly with VFX Producers to monitor project budgets and ensure that they are working within given targets
• Running regular production meetings and calling in to weekly budget meetings across all locations
• To work with Scheduling and Production to assess crew needs for all projects
• Communicate with other studio locations on their resource availability
• Facilitate the reviews of current employees and aide in recruitment with the selection of prospective production candidates
• Oversees the hiring of key position
• Ensure facility is maintained and in good running order
• Facilitate the process to grow internal cohesion and shared culture, and to actively drive and influence people’s behavior and actions to ensure they are aligned with the company values, vision and mission

Experience:

• Have 5+ years of experience working in VFX Management for feature and/or episodics at an established VFX facility

• Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously (and flawlessly)

• Well versed in the Post-Production process, especially that of visual effects

• Experience using Shotgun or similar production management software and hands-on experience with file transfer technologies such as Aspera

• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Word and Excel in particular. Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Google Suite
