The Department of Corrections, Division of Management Services, Bureau of Technology Management is currently recruiting to fill an IS Technical Services CNS/ADM (Telecom Manager) position located at our central office at 3099 E. Washington Ave., Madison, WI (Dane County).

Position Summary: This position is the Department’s voice telecommunications technical expert and is the technical expert for the integration and connectivity of very complex telecommunication systems and communications cabling facilities that involve multiple hardware and software platforms, multiple operating systems and advanced, emerging technologies such as video conferencing, network convergence, remote access, voice over IP (VoIP), wireless/mobile technologies, and unified messaging. This position directs and completes the research, development, and support of telecommunication systems and tools; telecommunications technical policies, parameters and standards; and communication cabling design and implementation for the Department, on a statewide basis. This position develops and implements telecommunications hardware and software architectures for all telecommunications systems in all DOC locations. It serves as the consultant and provides direction to all divisions in the architecture of systems using telecommunications facilities, methodologies, and toolsets. Extensive coordination and consultation with many other technical support units, application development units, facilities management staff, other State agencies and vendors is involved.

Special Notes: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency to employment. Applicants who fail or refuse the drug screen will not be given further consideration for employment.

    Qualifications: Minimally qualified applicants will have experience in the following:

  • Providing technical expertise and consultation on the optimal usage of telecommunications systems and communication cabling
  • Initiating and directing the acquisition, modification, or creation of corporate telecommunication tools (including documentation, utilization, and operational impact)
  • Providing problem resolution support and diagnosis for telecommunications systems and communication cabling infrastructure, tools, and methodologies
