Position Description:
The Global Environmental Affairs & Sustainability (GEA&S) team is presently hiring for a Sustainability Audit Project Manager role based at Lenovo’s Morrisville, North Carolina headquarters location.
The Sustainability Audit Project Manager will be responsible for managing Lenovo’s corporate level sustainability audits program globally. This role requires strong project management skills and close collaboration with internal stakeholders and outside partners to ensure ongoing compliance and risk management. They will be responsible for the creation and management of project plans with long and short-term timelines and with an understanding of prioritizing resources and tasks. They will clearly communicate project status, timelines, deliverables, goals, and expectations to their management and other internal stakeholders on a regular basis. They will drive innovation in Lenovo’s sustainability audit management programs meet Lenovo customers’ expectations.
Strong candidates will have the following:
- Knowledge of sustainability requirements including standards such as OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and/or SA 8000.
- Knowledge of industry programs including codes of conduct and audit programs such as Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) or others.
- Understanding of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) requirements for electronics industry.
- Experience with electronics industry (manufacturing, compliance, supply chain, or other areas).
- Experience managing complex projects or audit programs.
- Experience working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including customers, NGOs, industry associations, standards bodies, and others in the development of effective audit management programs.
- Strong project management skills.
The Sustainability Audit Project Manager is responsible for:
- Overall ownership and execution at the corporate level for Lenovo’s sustainability audit programs.
- Function as corporate level focal point for customer and other sustainability audit requests. Evaluate and approve sustainability audit requests. Coordinate scheduling of audits with local site management, internal teams, customers, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Development and execution at corporate level of BMS to manage sustainability audit requirements from customers, NGOs and other interested parties.
- Formal audit notification and approval process.
- Ownership of corporate wide audit schedule
- Coordination and training of personnel to support audits
- Database of sustainability audit requirements including audit protocol, standards, schedules, and contract terms.
- Tracking of corrective actions to closure
- Ongoing communications with internal and external interested parties including account teams, local site management, and customers.
- Develop tools and processes to support sustainability audits including internal audit protocol, reporting templates, etc.
- Understand external standards and audit programs such as Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) VAP audits, SA 8000, etc. Participation in industry group meetings and standards development as needed.
- Update Lenovo corporate standards and processes as needed to support sustainability audit requirements. Support other business areas in developing or updating supporting standards, processes, and tools as needed.
- Interact with Lenovo sales and product managers to ensure advanced notice of customer audit requirements and facilitate effective and proactive communications with Lenovo customers.
- Drive establishment of corporate level objectives and targets related to sustainability audits. Establish, monitor, and measure related metrics. Report results to management, in sustainability reporting documents and websites, etc.
- Manage relationship with third party audit providers as needed to support sustainability audit requests.
- Coordinate global data collection and reporting for sustainability audits across organizations (manufacturing, procurement, real estate) and audit types (customer specific, RBA, etc.).
- Manage end-to-end projects on schedule, within budget, and adhere to the high-quality standards set by the Global Environmental Affairs and Sustainability Team.
- Assist extended environmental and sustainability team members as deemed necessary.

Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of sustainability or related audit project management experience demonstrating successful management of projects from kick-off to completion and an innovative and effective approach to managing compliance and risk in this area.
- Masters Degree in environmental science, policy, or related field preferred but not required.
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders across global teams.
- Expert project management skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
- Experience establishing metrics, analyzing data and developing dashboards and reporting, including executive reporting.
- Ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally with services, legal, sales, manufacturing, and other organizations.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and ability to work in fast-paced environments and high-pressure situations.
- An interest in sustainability and social responsibility and an understanding of the various stakeholders, concerns, and impacts related to this discipline.
- Effective working both independently and as a team member; demonstrate autonomy over assigned work while working towards goals shared by the team.
