E Source is seeking an accomplished and dedicated senior vice president (SVP) of sales to grow our reach in the utility marketplace. This person must have an entrepreneurial spirit, robust sales experience, and a strong utility or energy-specific network that will help identify new business opportunities and markets for E Source. They should be driven to deliver results, build effective teams, and present a unified go-to-market approach for the company. This is a senior leadership position that reports directly to the CEO.
E Source provides independent research, analytics, and consulting and advisory services to utilities and other key players in the energy industry. Our mission is to advance the efficient use of energy while increasing the effectiveness of our members operations, programs, and customer relationships.
We expect the SVP of sales to create new sales opportunities and guide the team in higher-level strategic selling. As a highly visible face of E Source, especially with our most important customers, this person can expect to spend up to 50% of their time traveling within the US and Canada.
Responsibilities:
- Sell and possibly deliver offerings in the consulting and new products portfolio with an eye on the overall profitability of the business
- Collaboratively orchestrate sales plans and approaches that encompass the strategic sales offerings
- Deploy and coordinate the strategic sales cycle and methodology
- Deploy strategic account management actions to significantly grow revenue from our top-tier accounts
- Open doors and create new sales opportunities at the highest level within our customer organizations
- Recruit, coach, develop, train, and evaluate department staff
- Develop business-line and revenue forecasts
- Monitor and analyze sales and marketing activity against goals; evaluate the effectiveness of sales methods, costs, and results
- Collaborate with the marketing department to identify and develop new customers for products and services
- Support the execution of brand positioning to ensure distinct and consistent presentation of the brand\\
Qualifications:
- BS or BA degree in management, business, or related area; an MBA is preferred
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; exceptional written and verbal skills, with meticulous attention to detail
- Collaborative nature for participation in and facilitation of group meetings
- Minimum 5 years of experience in customer-facing roles, including sales, consulting, account management, customer support, or product management
- Minimum 5 years of utility experience and comprehensive product and industry knowledge in multiple disciplines
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience
- Experience with high-level, high-priced product and service relationship- and solutions-based approaches
- Knowledge of negotiating and change management
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and inspire teams
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales objectives
- Working knowledge of technology solutions such as customer relationship management (CRM) systems and social media; Salesforce experience preferred
