Tasks
Port Manager is responsible for all port related activities related to Porsche vehicles. Port Manager must ensure that all processing guidelines, standards and KPIs are met. Invoicing, wholesale reporting, inventory management, supplier invoice approval, and claim management will be daily responsibilities. Other responsibilities include supporting quality actions and scheduled audits. The Logistics Specialist shall report locally to the Port Manager for daily activities and tasks.
Roles & responsibilities
Primary responsibilities:
- Coordinate activities of all parties involved in vessel discharge and first point of rest inspection, including surveyors and the processor.
- Attend vessel discharges to ensure unloading and storage methods to minimize damage.
- Monitor the status of all vehicles at the processorâs facility.
- Monitor surveying efforts by marine surveyor employees and communicate issues with appropriate personnel.
- Establish and monitor storage locations for Porsche vehicles. Ensure all PCNA requirements are met.
- Ensure that the necessary PVMS activities are executed correctly.
- Oversee finance department and outside auditor with annual physical vehicle inventory.
- Assist with scheduling of outbound logistics with various carriers to ensure prompt and damage free delivery.
- Assist with dealer customer service activities, including expedite, dealer trade, and courtesy delivery requests.
- Work with processor management to keep dedicated account staff properly trained in technical and body shop areas.
- Provide port processor with direction on repair instructions and approval to ensure Porsche quality on all reworks, repairs and refurbishments.
- Submit, review and approve marine and carrier damage repairs and procedures.
- Coordinate Tourist Delivery vehicle handling as necessary.
- Assist Quality Department with the necessary reporting of vehicle issues and transportation damages.
- Directly sign off on all third party invoices prior to HQ Management approval and control all port related costs to assure budgets are achieved.
- Responsible for the proper usage of, awareness of, and compliance with Information Technology security policies at Porsche Cars North America.
- Seeks to ensure proper retention of electronic documents, business confidential information, and actively demonstrates an understanding of the need to safeguard competitive information in both electronic and non-electronic formats.
Qualifications
Education:
- College degree or equivalent industry and educational experience.
Experience:
- 7+ years of vehicle logistics, vehicle processing, port processing or port operations.
- 3+ years of quality vehicle inspection experience preferred.
- Prior mechanical and paint training preferred.
Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Prior SAP experience a benefit.
- German language skills helpful.
Competencies:
- Very good knowledge of vehicle logistics, ocean transportation, vehicle trucking, port operations, quality handling, and overall vehicle processing
- Automotive certifications (ASE, OEM certifications) preferred
- Ability to multi-task, handle multiple priorities and make decisions independently.
- Organized and detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
