Samsung Pay Inc. seeks a strategic-minded, goal-driven, and product-minded Head of Business Development; a bold leader who is not afraid to be the disruptive force behind new and innovative industry movement. In this role, you will lead new business efforts and revenue growth. Bring your mobile payments expertise and deep industry point-of-view and collaborate with a group of diverse and talented individuals within Pay and across other Samsung services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify, develop, connect and liaise with new business contacts across a host of client verticals and categories.
  • Create and manage a system for categorizing possible clientele and implementing an efficient and effective outreach plan.
  • Work with other internal teams to create a pipeline of opportunities that map to Samsung Pay’s overall objectives.
  • Challenge the status quo, surface new opportunities, and lead with facts and numbers that quantify opportunities.
  • Demonstrate fluency in all Samsung Pay partner-facing solutions.
  • Negotiate directly with partners required to bring new business opportunities to market.
  • Coordinate go-to-market activities in cross-functional teams.
  • Lead executive presentations required to gain support for new initiatives.
  • Apply knowledge and learn new markets required to help Samsung meet its objectives.
  • Establish strong internal partnerships to collaboratively define responsibilities for various partner outcomes with internal teams.
  • Articulate partner needs and influence current and future product/capability roadmaps by leveraging partner feedback.

Role and Responsibilities

The Head of Business Development is an industry seasoned independent thinker with the ability to develop “out of the box” ideas and demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to overcome objections. In addition, this leader possesses excellent communication skills, as well as critical problem solving skills. Our ideal person is goal oriented, well organized and comfortable in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.

  • Proven track record of success within the US payments industry, ideally 10+ years of experience and strong background with mobile payments.
  • Extensive background in Sales & Marketing with a proven track record of new business development and a well-established assembly of industry connections ideally within technology, innovation or financial institutions.
  • Dynamic, engaging, and outgoing personality with the tenacity and commitment needed to nurture relationships through sales process.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team decisively and positively.
  • Undergraduate degree; a relevant (MBA) post-graduate degree is desired.
  • Understands corporate culture, politics, yet knows how to create innovations within the big company.
  • Must be able and willing to travel.

  • Expert at presenting digital, direct marketing and data driven solutions and services.
  • Exceptional ability to have effective conversations with key marketing decision makers.
  • Assessment all new business opportunities and recommends strong course of action.
  • Contributes to selecting and orchestrating the pitch team, writing the RFI/RFP responses, creating presentations, and coordinating activities up to, through and after pitch day.
  • Strong technical and creative point of view, including latest trends and products.
