JOB TITLE: Feed Order System Specialist (Manager)
REPORTS TO: VP of Feed
DEPARTMENT: Feed
LOCATION: George, IA
CLASSIFICATION: Full time
Position Objective
To oversee and manage the activity of feed order distribution and ordering systems to maximize efficiencies for Cooperative Farmers Elevators customers in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service.
Position Responsibilities
Feed Order System Specialist (Manager)
- Oversee daily feed order distribution
- Manage the order input to FMM (cover billing when needed at any location)
- Work with the FMM specialist on budgeting and tracking
- Prepare feed orders and feed order system to maximize FMM and the BETA Raven systems
- Prepare system to centralize orders and billing in one location in coming years
- Work with Meta Farms and Feed Allocation System (FAS) systems to utilize data and record keeping
- Manage system upgrades
- Learn formulation and system uploads
- Custom reporting in all software packages
- Monthly data uploads
- Inventory management
- Perform system cleanup
- Support other administrative duties as assigned by management
Inform supervisor of outstanding conditions
- Inform your supervisor of potential problems or potential new business opportunities directly or indirectly related to your department
Supervision
Supervision involves establishing and communicating goals and results to employees, staffing the team and delegating the workload, actively supporting employee growth, upholding cooperative policies, and supervising and performing tasks to increase efficiency and productivity.
Staff location and delegate workload to meet feed ordering requirements
- Grow the feed team and manage the feed billing group to centralized ordering of all feed orders
- Work with HR to establish and update job descriptions for all positions within the centralized feed ordering department
Actively support employee growth
- Build and support an environment that encourages teamwork and efficiencies throughout CFE
- Discuss performance with each employee and perform formal mid-year and annual reviews
- Stimulate and develop positive morale and team spirit that leads to high productivity
Safety and Compliance
Uphold Company Safety & Compliance policies
- Uphold all cooperative policies
- Employee safety meetings, etc. held as required or scheduled in conjunction with Safety Director or location
Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by management
- Favorable feedback is received from all department managers when assigned to perform or assist with other duties and responsibilities in those departments
- Attend meetings; actively be engaged and provide feedback to support the feed team
- Hold regular communication sessions with feed ordering team, gain insight and provide feedback
- Attitude consistently mirrors the company image and promotes fellow employee teamwork
- Present a professional image through words, actions and personal appearance
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and/or 2+ years of experience in a livestock field or in a related area
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel software
- Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division quickly and accurately
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and demonstrate good attention to detail
- Detail oriented to provide accurate and consistent work with or without direction
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to
50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
