Contract Sr. Project Manager

Kaeppel Consulting has an immediate need for a Contract SR Project Manager located in Charlotte, NC, OR Iselin, NJ, or Waltham, MA.

Long Term through 2020.

Project is involved in Regulation oversight application being built from scratch (objective: ensure financial advisors and broker dealers adhere to rules and regulations). The Application uses an in-house developed custom front end (Java), workflow management (Activiti), rules engine (Red Hat), and a data mart (Teradata). Project will continue through 2020.

Sr. Project Manager (PM) Responsibilities:

· Coordinate internal staff toward the successful execution of Agile projects

· Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget

· Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

· Ensure staff availability and allocation

· Develop detailed sprint plans to monitor and track progress

· Manage changes to project/sprint scope, sprint plans and budgets

· Measure / adjust team velocity and assign backlog items based on capacity

· Use discretion and personal judgment to determine when to escalate issues to management

· Identify / manage project risk

· Manage the relationship with business partners (internal customers) and Product Owners, especially in the area of expectations

· Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

· Lead daily scrum calls

· Manage multiple scrum teams / projects

· Present status, checkpoint, solution options as needed to various audiences

· Keep scrum teams motivated to work through challenges and achieve sprint objectives

· Deflect noise away from the Scrum teams to allow them to complete assigned tasks

· Remove friction between Scrum team members as needed

· Conduct retrospective meetings and act upon lessons learned / best practices

· Coordinate and direct the efforts of multiple teams in the release of applications to production

Position Qualifications

· Proven PM/Scrum Master experience (at least 5-10 years) in an Agile project environment

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· PM experience within the financial services industry (experience with Banking technology is a plus)

· Experience with regular, cyclical production release cycles

· Occasional travel for 2-3 day offsite meetings (2-3 times a year)

· Weekend hours required (4-6 times a year)

· Experience working with offshore development teams is a plus

· Agile / Scrum certification is a plus

· Scaled Agile / SAFe certification is a plus

· Full experience with Microsoft Office Suite

· Experience with any of the following tools is also a plus:

· Jira

· AgileCraft/JiraAlign

· Clarity

· SharePoint
