The Technical Director would oversee audio/video/lighting in all departments of Hosanna Lutheran Church (HLC). This would include preproduction, programming, routine maintenance of all equipment as well as personnel development and training within each department. The Technical Director will also manage and maintain a volunteer team to fulfill weekend services, including livestream, and will be responsible for providing industry standard A1 mixing for worship services.

Position Overview:

  • Provide leadership and oversight to all system support (audio, video and lighting) for the worship services including the operation and maintenance of all gear.
  • Oversee and maintain a master list of all Hosanna production equipment.
  • Recruit and schedule volunteer team members to execute all worship experiences, including livestream, Journeys, and/or other special events.
  • Communicate vision to all production and tech team members.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot problems which may occur during a service and efficiently recover the service.
  • Develop stage/set concepts, designs, and installation in collaboration with the Communication Team.
  • Attend weekly meetings for worship services planning and review along with event planning.
  • Oversee the in-service use of Pro-Presenter.
  • Be responsible for all on-site and off-site Hosanna production needs.
  • Oversee and execute Hosanna’s Tech/AV budget.
  • Be responsible for the coordinating of IT resources and phone systems.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Lead Pastor.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ability to be adaptable in stressful situations and a quick learner.
  • Knowledge of digital audio mixing consoles (Midas Pro Series a plus)
  • Knowledge of ProPresenter for use in weekend services.
  • Knowledge of lighting in the context of worship services (intelligent LED and DMX programming)
  • Hands-on experience with technology in a modern worship production environment.

Preferred Extras:

  • Knowledge in video recording, editing, and capturing.
  • Experience in a Technical Director role at a church with a 1000+ in attendance.
  • Experience with multi-site worship services.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of tech in general. (ranging from smartphones to Apple computers, lighting, audio, cables, video, and etc.)

Breakdown of specific location responsibilities:

Main Worship Center:

  • Responsible for industry standard quality front-of-house mixing
  • Routine maintenance on the AVL systems
  • Responsible for stage set up and tear down for each weekly service and special event(s)
  • Oversee the housekeeping of stage area, as well as ensure that it is functional for every event
  • Oversee proper stage design, including proper “mic-ing” of all vocals and instruments
  • Responsible to assist all band members with their individual monitor mix (programming, training, and routing)
  • Available for training seminars and team development
  • Responsible for producing a monthly calendar and managing the scheduled individuals to ensure that each required seat is covered for each event(s)

Grace Point Chapel / Hosanna Highland Worship Center:

  • Routine maintenance on the audio system.
  • Oversee proper stage design, including proper “mic-ing” of all vocals and instruments
  • Ensure that all services, and special events are covered by trained personnel
  • Oversee maintenance of all audio/video equipment
  • Available for training and team development

Youth Room:

  • Responsible to ensure that all audio equipment in the Youth Room is functional and maintained
  • Available for training and team development

Other Facilities:

  • Responsible for maintenance of all portable audio systems.
  • Responsible for scheduling all set up and tear down of any audio equipment that is necessary to complete any scheduled HLC function(s)
  • Available for training and team development

70 Volt System:

  • Maintain 70 volt systems on church campus.

Acoustics:

  • Maintain accurate EQ & acoustic analysis of all the audio and systems of the facility.
