Systems Project Leader, Scrum Master

Opportunity

This role requires relevant experience to lead traditional waterfall projects as well as Agile projects and flexibility to transition between both types of projects.


Waterfall Projects –
This specific job requires the project management of $1 million plus IT systems implementations. Most of Kohler Co. IT’s implementations are based on SAP, Salesforce CRM or web technologies and require the project manager to have experience in leading implementations that are business process focused and have team sizes of 50 plus. The Project Leader must have leadership skills to manage upwardly to senior executives as well as motivate core team members. Demonstrated usage of a project methodology is a significant plus, whether it is CMM, PMI, etc. This position requires up to 35% international and US domestic travel per year, depending upon project location and project timeline.


Agile Scrum Projects –
Act as a change agent with servant leadership mindset and a passion for working with people and teams to help them improve and deliver their best work. You will work with a team to advise and oversee performance against Agile values, practices, and processes. Working with the Product Owner, you will support the work of the team by maintaining the backlog and facilitating Agile Scrum events like stand ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives. You will monitor team performance through the team’s dashboard and help identify continuous improvement opportunities to help the team work better and smarter.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


Functional Skills:

  • Project management leadership related to planning and executing project processes that support meeting the project deliverables.
  • Provide progressive leadership in the design and implementation of systems projects. Manage the project scope, resources and quality within budget and schedule to meet objectives.
  • Apply innovative and creative thinking to solve problems and get things done.
  • Inspire and motivate team members.
  • Coach and support team member to adjust to and embrace changes to their ways of working.
  • Prepare and conduct project review meetings and management presentations including general design review, project scheduling, test planning & execution.
  • Controls procedures, systems documentation, and system implementation plan.
  • Prepare and publish systems project status reports. Comply with PMO methodology, standards, procedures, guidelines, priorities and schedules.
  • Demonstrate passion about Agile principles and embed them across the organization.
  • Bring a data-driven approach to decision making, both in day-to-day management and in making strategic trade-offs.
  • Participate in relevant educational programs and professional societies relating to project management and computing technology.
  • This role has the latitude for independent actions and decisions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Business, Supply Chain or related field required.
  • 8+ years of IT experience.
  • Significant depth of expertise and track record of accomplishments in project management in one or more IT functional areas.
  • Project Management certification a plus, but not required. Emphasis is on demonstrated use of CMM, PMI, CSM, PSM etc.
  • Experience working in Agile teams and understanding of Agile practices.
  • Ability to brainstorm with team members on solutions to address challenges and roadblocks.
  • Continuous improvement mind-set and dedication to finding new ways of working.
  • Ability to influence behavior without having formal organizational hierarchy.
