POSITION

The Senior Scrum Master in Research and Development will remove impediments for our scrum teams and be responsible for ensuring the teams live agile values and principles by following the agreed upon processes and practices. As a SSM, you will build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, or judgement, with an emphasis of learning and problem solving . The role requires having a drive for results, keeping the teams focused on team building and sprint goals, while staying connected to the release, product results and company goals. Leading by example, you will support teams by using a servant/leader management style. The ability to listen and to understand problems and concerns is key to the success of this position. This position reports to the Director of Product Quality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Influence the teams to self-organize
  • Remove team impediments to increase velocity
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritize company goals
  • Assess the scrum maturity of teams and the organization, coaching teams to higher levels
  • Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • Responsible for metric tracking (e.g. Sprint Burndown/up, Release Burndown/up, Cost per sprint point, etc.)
  • Report on the status of sprint work and goals to stakeholders
  • Support Product Owners in the forecasting, grooming and estimation of the product backlog
  • Plan and facilitate scrum ceremonies; sprint planning, daily scrum, refactoring meetings, sprint review, and sprint retrospectives
  • Keep teams well-informed on internal and external initiatives and activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with IT focus, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience implementing Agile methodologies
  • Preferred A-CSM or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication from low level team discussions to executive level communication
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, inspire and guide others toward goal accomplishment
  • Enjoys self-development, keeping current on emerging processes and practices around Agile
  • Full understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project)
  • Utilization of agile work management tools, such as TFS or Jira
  • Continuous improvement mindset
