Under the direction of the Community Vice President or Executive Director, the Regional Program Director of Youth Development will be responsible for all facets of the child/youth & family development department. The Regional Program Director will directly supervise (1-3 non-exempt staff) Program Directors or Associate Program Directors, all of whom will assist in involving people of all ages with the YMCA. Responsibilities will also include recruitment & coordination of volunteers. The position will include the development and administration of the department, program development and promotion, implementation and evaluation, staff scheduling and supervision, and financial operation in accordance with Center and Association goals, objectives and policies. Additional responsibilities include special projects, community relations/involvement, program innovation, site/program observations and providing leadership to staff in the annual campaign. The Regional Program Director must understand their role in helping build relationships and a small community atmosphere among our members.
KNOW HOW
This position requires a BA/BS degree in child development, recreation, elementary education or related field and 4-5 years related experience. Applicant must have proven management and programming skills with special emphasis on youth, teen and family activities and volunteer recruitment/training. The ability to relate to all age groups is essential. Experience with volunteers, fiscal management, and program development is also important. The need exists to be current with community trends.
Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed. Strong skills are necessary in supervision, management, income production, expense control, public relations, promotion, communication skills, and record-keeping.
