Success Through Mentoring (STM) matches Spencer County, Indiana youth with volunteer adult mentors.

Vision: All at risk children in the community have the necessary resources to mature and contribute to the community!

The Executive Director is the key management leader of Success Through Mentoring, Inc. (STMI). The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration of programs and the strategic plan of the organization. The Executive Director works in partnership with the Board of Directors to provide leadership, vision, and direction for the program. Other key duties include fundraising, marketing and community outreach. The position reports directly to the STMI Board of Directors.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Board Governance: Works with the STMI Board in order to fulfill the STMI mission.

-Responsible for leading STMI in a manner that supports and guides the program’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.

-Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

2. Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the program.

-Prepare and present yearly program budget.

-Maintain accurate records (financial and informational) of all activities of the STMI in an organized system.

-Responsible for the financial integrity of STMI, with the ability to correctly analyze and understand financial reports, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the program.

-Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support the mission of the program.

-Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization and maintenance of the program in a positive financial position.

3. STMI Mission and Strategy: Works with the Board and staff to ensure that the STMI mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

-Responsible for implementation of STMI programs that carry out the STMI mission.

-Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that STMI can successfully fulfill its mission in the future.

-Responsible for the enhancement of STMI ‘s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organization.

4. Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.

-Responsible for effective administration of STMI operations.

-Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff and volunteers.

-Responsible for development and implementation of training and monitoring compliance for all staff and volunteers.

-Responsible for written duties, assignments and supervision of staff and volunteers.

-Assures all data is collected and assembled for monthly reports or as needed.

-Responsible for oversight of all committees and seeing that the committees are fully manned.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

-Transparent and high integrity leadership

-Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation

-Ability to convey a vision of STMI’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers and donors

-Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector

-Skills to collaborate with and motivate staff and volunteers

-Strong oral and written communication skills

-Ability to connect and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups

-Strong public speaking ability

-Must be bondable

ACTUAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Implementation of policies and procedures for all functions and for day-to-day operation of the program.

-Serving as STMI ‘s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public.

-Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations throughout the community, county and state and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance STMI’s mission.

-Report to and work closely with the Board to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the STMI throughout the state.

-Supervise, collaborate with organization staff.

-Participate in strategic planning and implementation.

-Oversee and coordinate committee meetings.

-Oversee marketing and other communications efforts including print, media, newsletters, website and Facebook.

-Creatively strive to make others aware of STMI.

-Advocate for and help (when possible) all who apply regardless of sex, race or religious affiliations and beliefs.

-Maintain close harmonious relations with social service agencies, church groups and community organizations that support and work with STMI.

-Other duties as assigned by the Board.
