Position Overview:
The Director, Practice Management DPM reports to the CEO and is responsible for the successful relationship building with providers, business, financial, and strategic operation and performance of all Montrose Memorial Hospital’s employed practices. In addition, the Director recommends strategies to enhance and/or grow other non-employed provider practices, enhances the patient experience, establishes business plans and monitors the overall performance of provider services. In taking on leadership responsibility the DPM will continue to work on aligning and integrating provider practices within the clinical areas, the community served by the practices and MMH. The DPM will need to develop credible relationships of trust with the providers and both hospital and leadership. The DPM will be intimately involved in determining the overall strategy and successful implementation of the business operating plan that supports improving quality, cost and outcomes.
The culture that exists of empowering employed providers to reach their highest potential through strong and respectful working relationships with providers, must be a foremost focus of the DMP.
Essential Functions:
Actively engage with providers, engage in direct communication with them, develop a relationship as a first priority and lead the providers to greater success by engendering their respect and an understanding that the DPM is their advocate for improving their practices.
Provide operating oversight of provider service operations
Develop and implement a vision and business/operating plans targeted to promote the growth and enhancement of MMH provider services. In this regard works to enhance the future affiliation and integration of providers
Lead and provide the direction and coordination of activities necessary to develop, implement, monitor, recommend modification as necessary, and achieve the clinical area’s business and strategic plans’ stated goals
Build, lead and maintain a culture that supports and enables quality skilled provider and staff recruitment and retention, continued professional and personal development, as well as, motivating, evaluating and providing feedback to providers and staff on job related criteria and areas of accountability
Monitor and manage fiscal activities together with the CFO and lead financial performance. Ensure adequate budgeting, reporting and auditing on a regular basis.
Manage personnel and oversee the professional development of the provider and administrative leaders responsible for the operations of provider services.
Develop and implement provider service standards and operating systems to enhance the effectiveness of provider services, including information management, office management, scheduling, patient service and other operating improvements
Identify and recommend provider employment opportunities as a result of conducting group practice assessments and other due diligence processes
Identify gaps in physician services offered and participate in the interview process to fill identified gaps
Lead quality experience initiatives for provider service operations. In this role, the DPM coordinates the development of quality programs with the Director of Quality, orchestrates major process improvement initiatives, develops and oversees the implementation of new customer experience models and provides quality outcome reports to the public and other major constituencies
In partnership with CFO, ensures the existence of systems for tracking, evaluating, and reporting patterns of care delivery. This will be used to demonstrate clinical value to the community and payors
Participate in risk management related activities targeted to proactively minimize risk and promote the safety of patients, families, employees, and others
Under the guidance of the CEO, participate as a team member of various teams to create innovative solutions associated with the provision of medical care and the strategic development of provider leaders

Directs department operations on a continuous basis and advises management on operational and functional improvement opportunities. Ensures that budget monitoring processes are in place and that appropriate action plans are established to address variances outside of established parameters. Identifies and implements ways to reduce and control expenses, as well as enhance revenues in the hospital and assigned areas. Ensures staff and physician awareness of cost impact on organization
Focuses staff on continuously building customer satisfaction for patients, physicians, colleagues, the community and other departments served. Engages staff in continually raising the bar in service excellence
Communicates effectively as an MMH advocate to members of the community, continually seeks ways to promote organization to the public
Assures that implementation of standards of professional practice occurs, reviewing and revising according to policy or as necessary to reflect changes in practice and to ensure safe, effective and efficient patient care
Ensures compliance with local, state, federal rules and regulations and OSHA standards • Consistently, with others, evaluates core processes for redesign opportunities to improve operations, patient experience, reduce cost, reduce cycle time, enhance service and improve performance
Promotes and maintains harmonious and effective relationships with physicians. Develops collaborative models for structured communications and strategic, program and quality initiatives
Participate as a member of MMH’s Senior Leadership Team orchestrating the development and integration of service excellence to enhance the patient care experience across the physician enterprise
Attend assigned committee meetings and reports on provider services and provider leadership development, as requested
Participate in provider administrative forums and educational programs, as requested
Undertake special projects/assignments as directed
Required
Bachelor’s Degree
3 years management experience in a healthcare setting
Strong Working knowledge of PC based applications.
