Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for the Logan Square Neighborhood Associationâs (LSNAâs) overall administration of finance and accounting functions, including planning, budget development and monitoring, accounting operations, compliance and government grants administration in accordance with agency goals and objectives. This position reports directly to the Executive Director of LSNA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Fiscal Management Functions:
- Oversee budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, grants administration, forecasting and risk management activities for LSNA.
- Prepare timely financial and operating reports, including cash flow forecasts for the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Oversee and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure reliability of financial statements.
- Serve as the primary contact for financial institutions.
- Provide critical input for Executive Director and the Finance Committee on investments and long-range financial plans.
- Keep updated on fiscal requirements of the government and our funding sources.
Accounting Functions:
- Review all receipts and disbursements, determine correct account distribution, and ensure all support documentation is accurate and in order.
- Supervise and/or complete the monthly financial closing.
- Assist and support with accounting and financial problems or issues as well as special studies as needed by LSNA management or Board.
- Train and supervise staff on fiscal policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper preparation for LSNA annual audit(s).
Grants and Contract Management:
- Oversee all aspects of grants and contracts management including: developing and monitoring individual administrative plans, timely and accurate internal variance monitoring, and complete external reporting.
- Facilitate the resolution of disallowed costs; ensure accurate record keeping.
- Support audit requests by governmental funding agencies and ensure feedback to grantors regarding their contract monitoring visits.
Budgeting Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead the development of the annual budget in coordination with key LSNA staff and Board of Directors.
- Provide timely and accurate budget reports; oversee variance reporting processes with all specified organizational units on a cycle and at a program level directed by LSNA Executive Director.
Critical Leadership Responsibilities:
- Develop positive, collaborative, and constructive working relationships with all LSNA staff.
- Creates and implements staff development and training plans for fiscal staff.
- Performs staff evaluations for fiscal staff.
- Serves as systems administrator for Fund EZ database.
