Associate Director/Director Research
We are looking for a hands on scientific leader to assist in the target identification process all the way through to IND enabling activities. The candidate should have a passion for science and medicine and a demonstrated ability to lead teams that develop disease-relevant assays and models to support sophisticated pharmacology assessment of drug action, both in vitro and in vivo.
The candidate should have experience leading teams that include molecular and cell biology as well as pharmacology. Experience and knowledge of microRNAs and oligo therapeutics is desirable.
The successful candidate will join a cross-disciplinary team that coordinates chemistry, biology, bioinformatics and other pre-clinical research to support our research programs and advance them to clinical development.
The candidate will also be expected to be experienced with the drug discovery process as evidenced by key contributions to the discovery of new therapies that have advanced to clinical proof of concept or beyond. The candidate should also be able to mentor project leaders and support cross-functional, cross-site or other collaborative activities necessary to advance new therapeutics to the clinic.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Biology or related discipline
- Experience leading a biology or drug discovery group in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company (minimum 4 years)
- Experience in strategic planning, project leadership, laboratory and budget management
- Demonstrated contributions to R&D efforts that have led to the development of clinical candidates
- Expertise in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology and bioinformatics
- Proven ability to champion and advance innovative concepts
- Experience developing people and mentoring project leaders
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a highly matrixed work environment
