Norfolk State University is accepting applicants for the position of Associate Director Auxiliary Services. In this position the incumbent will provide ongoing fiscal and administrative support by developing and managing an efficient structure to increase organizational efficiency while improving performance across all areas. The Associate Director Auxiliary Services will: 1. Oversee the financial and personnel functions of Printing Services, SpartanCard Office, Facilities Rental and Ticket Center. 2. Assist in the financial and operational planning strategies of the entire division and lead in special project initiatives. 3. Act on behalf of Director. Minimum Qualifications
1. Knowledge of management principles, practices, and budget development. 2. Considerable knowledge of NSU’s mission. 3. Knowledge of sound accounting principles, budget management, contract administration, monitoring activities on a management level, negotiation skills and problem resolution skills. 4. Ability to build and enhance business relationships. 5. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed financial and personnel records. 6. Ability to meet project deadlines, and manage multiple task with continual interruptions. 7. Demonstrated ability to assess program needs/outcomes and develop new or enhance existing programs to meet department, division, and university goals and objectives. 8. Ability to interpret and enforce contractual requirements. 9. Ability to interpret, formulate, and implement policies and procedures. 10. Ability to evaluate operational procedures/policies and develop and implement new strategies for designated areas. 11. Ability to effectively communicate with others, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting or closely related field or a Bachelors degree with an equivalent combination of training and work experience that equates to and an advanced degree is required. 2. Progressively responsible, closely related, auxiliary services experience in a college or university setting, including contract administration and direct supervision of auxiliary services operations and associated staff. 3. Previous experience in developing and evaluating requests for proposals and developing performance metrics and/or outcomes assessments for auxiliary services operations. 4. Experience in maximizing effectiveness and efficiency in managing fiscal and human resources, effective problem solving and example of innovative achievements. 5. Experience negotiating and administering contracts, including experience with metrics, checklists, contractor performance evaluations, and/or other means of ensuring contractor compliance with terms and conditions of agreements.
