The agile project manager will serve as an organizational leader for several concurrent agile development teams. The role is a process coach within agile teams and is responsible for driving adherence to agile values, principles, best practices to Verizon Media standards and organizing teams to execute on delivery of business value. The project manager owns radiating team information and notifying the rest of the organization of the team’s progress against quarterly goals & objectives as well as anticipating and removing risks, blockers and impediments. A good agile project manager understands how to assess their team’s maturity and coach them to increase velocity and quality of delivery, while maintaining a sustainable and comfortable pace for the team and the organization.

Reporting into the PMO Director, the Technical Project Manager will work collaboratively as part of a larger business-unit PMO, coordinating external dependencies when needed and participating in regular cross departmental stand-ups and quarterly planning activities. The Technical Project Manager will also provide support their agile team and broader stakeholders in longer-term release planning, product roadmapping, capacity planning, and quarterly release planning and to communicate goals and resource-allocation to the larger organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Project Manager/ ScrumMaster/ Kanban Process Engineer on 2-3 development teams.

  • Act as a servant-leader and process coach to your teams, helping them reach higher levels of agile adoption.

  • Facilitate decision-making and communication between the team, product owner and organizational leadership.

  • Assist the larger PMO with reporting status, long-term planning, and meeting external and internal milestones and releases.

  • Ensure smooth communication within the project team and cross-functional teams.

  • Interface with external stakeholders and manage stakeholder expectations as needed.

  • Work to anticipate and quickly remove blockers and impediments to your teams’ progress.

  • Work closely with other members of the PMO to track and balance inter-team dependencies to avoid blockers and impediments related to cross-functional work.

  • Influence continuous improvement of both your teams methodologies and PMO processes.

  • Work with engineering to estimate effort-levels for product requirements and provide resourcing requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a technology or internet-oriented project management role

  • Minimum of 1-year experience as a scrum master with technical or production teams.

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

  • Experience in process and implementation management in a technology company

  • Knowledge of traditional and agile project management methodologies: Scrum, Kanban, TDD, Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery

  • CSM or PMI-ACP certification

Desired Qualifications

  • Technology expertise: web software, application infrastructure, datacenter deployments, content delivery, video streaming, IP transit, and server architecture

  • CSP certification

  • Experience with Atlassian JIRA & Confluence

  • SAFe (Scaled Agile) experience and knowledge
