SUMMARY OF POSITION

Manages and directs the entire operation of a fresh processing case ready food plant including production output, product quality, logistics, and plant staff. Responsible for producing food safe, quality product at the least cost that meet or exceed all regulatory and legal requirements. Maintains a safe work environment for all employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for planning and performance in function areas including: production, maintenance, sanitation, purchasing, and food safety.
  • Strategic planning and management of processing plant operations. Must meet yield standards, realize operating efficiencies and cost savings. Manages the operating and capital budget.
  • Maintains appropriate communications among various functional areas within the facility and coordinates their activities for an effective plant operation.
  • Responsible for the logistical planning of the plant operations. This includes ensuring optimal staffing levels are maintained to

meet production needs as well as ensuring the proper packaging and shipment of products to meet customer needs.

  • Responsible for ensuring food-safe, high quality products are produced that meet or exceed all regulatory and legal requirements. Ensures that food safety and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) programs are executed throughout the plant. Interacts with regulatory inspectors.
  • Responsible for providing a safe and healthy work environment, free of all recognizable hazards. Ensures staff training programs are implemented.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements short and long-range objectives consistent with executive guidelines.
  • Establishes and maintains satisfactory customer and public relations.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agricultural Business, Animal Science, Food
Science, or related field preferred.

Experience

5 years of supervisory manufacturing experience.

5-7 years in food processing.
