Purpose of Role:

The Associate Engineering Project Manager is responsible for fundamental executional activities of projects. The Associate Engineering Project Manager is an active member of the Central Engineering community, the local engineering team, and project team(s) currently assigned. He/she is responsible for deploying his/her engineering know-how to successfully support the execution of projects to the business that deliver a sustained technical competitive advantage.


This is accomplished by:

  • Being engaged daily with project team members proactively performing assigned tasks
  • Providing engineering know-how to support the execution of projects
  • Managing individual construction contractors during the installation phase of the project
  • Contributing to a winning environment which promotes safety, trust and confidence
  • Understanding, complying with and reinforcing safety, security, and environmental policies
  • Understanding and developing skills that support excellence in execution
  • Supporting commitments of project scope, time, and budget
  • Providing input into the project development process:

    • Technical feasibility
    • Innovative ideas
    • Ideas that provide a sustained technical competitive advantage
    • Technical information required for project design
  • Maintaining a positive attitude
  • Supporting standards and following established ways of working
  • Working with functional groups on the project team

Principal Accountabilities:


ASSOCIATE

  • Actively participate in the development of engineering skills

BUSINESS

  • Ensure delivery of assigned objectives for scope, time, budget, and cash flow
  • Ensure fundamental executional activities are aligned with overall project priorities
  • Communicate with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager to ensure project objectives are achieved
  • Apply appropriate technology to gain and sustain technical competitive advantage
  • Support initiatives that shorten new product and project cycle times
  • Support lean ways of working and apply lean principles to engineering design
  • Understand business measurements such as ROTA, FATR and segment objectives


FUNCTIONAL

  • Continuously improve technical knowledge
  • Continuously improve functional skills to provide value added engineering
  • Key member and contributor of the CVS Team
  • Comply with established standards for equipment, systems and engineering processes
  • Support safety, security and environmental policies
  • Contribute innovative ideas to provide sustained technical competitive advantage
  • Identify, expand, and protect intellectual property of the corporation
  • Maximize asset utilization through value added engineering and lean design

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 1-3 years’ of experience in a comparable technical position in within a comparable industry; food, beverage, and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Basic understanding of Engineering principles – knowledge of engineering disciplines: Process, Packaging, Electrical/controls, Construction or Utilities
  • Understanding of Project Management; mobilizing fast and aggressive timelines and producing quality work while influencing and working with various indirect cross functional teams or team members
  • Ability to deliver results despite potential change and ambiguity
  • Previous demonstrated creative solutions to complex problems and situations
  • Strong communication, listening, and influencing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various cross functional partners, including leadership
  • Strong business acumen skills – compiling reports, presentations, financial oversight, and leadership on projects
  • Ability to travel 20-60% of the time as business dictates


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or MBA
  • Three (3)+ years’ experience in a comparable technical position in within a comparable industry; food, beverage, and/or pharmaceutical industry.
